There are a couple of reasons why one would need to move from one domain to another, including but not limited to; rebranding, you’ve got a much suitable domain for our website, or maybe your domain has had a bad reputation with search engines, hence traffic has been hard to come by.
Today I’m going to show you one of the simplest way of moving your website to a new domain with touching a single line of code. This process has only been been tested on a single server with an addon domain. It hasn’t been tried on different server but it sure makes it easier after this.
STEP 1: Login to your new cpanel, under domains, click on Addon Domain.
STEP 2: Add your new domain details and click add domain
STEP 3: Go to your Apps installer, (in this case Softaculous) and click on All Installations. Find the Website you want to change domain and click the clone button shown by the red box below.
STEP 4: On the next page, fill in your Clone Installation Details. Select your protocol, then new domain from the dropdown list and ignore every other details. Scroll down and click the Clone Installation button
And that is it. Wait for the clone process to finish and your site will be migrated fully with all its pages, posts and database. If you need help, don’t hesitate to contact us, we’ll be glad to help.
